Blasón House and Studio in Madrid
The small workshop on Calle Blasón is one of the few industrial buildings that still survive in the centre of Madrid. Increasingly stringent requirements with regard to protection from noise and emissions have forced most such businesses to move to the outskirts of the city and their old buildings have been demolished. In addition, high residential property prices make it difficult to preserve the city’s industrial heritage. With their project Elements for Industrial Recovery the architects from Burr have made it their mission to prevent more of these old buildings from disappearing.
Die kleine Werkstatt in der Calle Blasón ist eines der wenigen industriellen Gebäude, die im Zentrum von Madrid noch erhalten sind. Durch die höheren Anforderungen an Lärm- und Emissionsschutz mussten die meisten Betriebe an den Stadtrand ziehen, ihre alten Gebäude wurden abgerissen. Auch die hohen Preise für Wohnimmobilien erschweren den Erhalt des industriellen Erbes der Stadt. Mit ihrem Projekt Elements for Industrial Recovery machen es sich die Architekten von Burr Studio zur Aufgabe, diese Altbauten vor dem Verschwinden zu bewahren.
