District Centre in Brussels
The district centre in Brussels is part of an urban development plan for the Molenbeek municipality situated along the Brussels-Charleroi Canal. For a long time, the waterway constituted the main industrial traffic artery of the city of Brussels. The commercial and industrial site was increasingly transformed into a highly desirable office, shopping and nightlife area. Related investments have taken place here for about ten years. The design by &bogdan was repeatedly revised within a participative process that included local authorities, future users and neighbours.
Das neue soziale Zentrum in Brüssel ist Teil eines städtischen Entwicklungsplans für das Viertel Molenbeek am Canal Bruxelles-Charleroi. Die Wasserstraße war lange Zeit die industrielle Hauptverkehrsader von Brüssel. Im Lauf der Zeit verwandelte sich das Gewerbe- und Industrieareal mehr und mehr in ein begehrtes Büro-, Einkaufs- und Ausgehviertel, in das seit rund zehn Jahren investiert wird. Der Entwurf von &Bogdan wurde in einem partizipativen Prozess mehrfach mit den Behörden, künftigen Nutzern und Nachbarn überarbeitet.
