Die luftig leichte Sporthalle im katalonischen Vila-seca hat nur noch wenig gemein mit dem Bestandsgebäude aus dem Jahr 1986, das die Architekten renoviert und ergänzt haben. NAM Arquitectura erhielten den Auftrag, den Altbau, der Teil eines Sportcampus in Tarragona ist, als Austragungsort für die griechisch-römischen Ringwettkämpfe im Rahmen der Mittelmeerspiele 2018 aufzurüsten.
The light, airy, communal sports hall in Vila-seca, Catalonia, has only little in common with the existing structure dating from 1986. The earlier building, with its precast concrete elements and suspended soffits, is reminiscent of an industrial development. It forms part of the sporting campus of Vila-seca, a suburb of Tarragona in Spain. The architects were commissioned to convert the older facilities as the venue for the Greek-Roman wrestling competitions in the context of the 2018 Mediterranean Games.
