URDU-ISLAMIC AESTHETICS OF ARCHITECTURE AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT: IN THE CONTEXT OF THE SUNNAH OF PROPHET MUHAMMAD ﷺ
The intricate relationship between architecture and urban expansion reflects societal culture, as seen in the contrasting designs of Islamic and Western homes. Islamic architecture emphasizes hijab by separating internal spaces like kitchens from external guest rooms, while Western designs place kitchens opposite guest rooms. Traditional Western architecture shows glimpses of Islamic styles, but modern architecture eliminates such distinctions. Contemporary Islamic societies face Western cultural influence, leading to deviations from Islamic traditions. This study explores how Islamic principles, rooted in the Prophet’s teachings, historically shaped urban development, emphasizing community welfare, sustainability, and social equity. Through qualitative research, it advocates integrating traditional Islamic values with modern practices to create resilient, balanced urban landscapes that honor heritage and innovation.
