Segregated infrastructure: integrated landscape
Building a road infrastructure does not necessary imply segregation nor destruction of the city. An infrastructure interacts with its environment modifying the configuration of the landscape; road infrastructures (or motorways), alter the speed with which this is perceived. How have we built such an important part of the city What conceptions have we had The answer to these questions might replace the role of road infrastructure in the concert of the contemporary city. At the same time, it would propose the landscape as the element in charge of integrating or articulating the relationship between a road infrastructure (at times segregated) and the city. An emblematic case is analysed in this article: the Aterro do Flamengo (Río de Janeiro).
