Efficient Alkali Sludge Treatment Technology Based on Polymer Flocculants
This study provides a detailed introduction to efficient alkali slag treatment technologies. First, it discusses the technical challenges faced in the resourceful utilization of alkali slag, such as the presence of various soluble salts that can decrease the layer strength, as well as its small particle size and high viscosity. Second, it introduces the key role of flocculants in the treatment of alkaline slag, including the charge neutralization and double-layer compression of polyaluminum chloride (PAC), as well as the adsorption and bridging effects of polyacrylamide (PAM). It then describes how the treatment process—comprised of extraction, modification, flocculation, and dewatering stages—achieves harmless treatment and resourceful utilization of alkali slag. Finally, the advantages of efficient alkali slag treatment technology, which include a considerable reduction in the salt content of the alkali slag, improved viscosity, and effective harmless treatment, are discussed. This technology is more advanced, economically viable, and environmentally sustainable than traditional technologies. Consequently, the promotion and application of this technology can reduce environmental pollution and achieve sustainable resource utilization.
