Criteria for the Assessment of Existing Highway Bridges
In the western part of Romania, on the highway still are in operation, after two World Wars and other events, some old highway bridges erected on the beginning of the last century. Some of these structures are witnesses of the past, representing technical monuments with emblematic character. The duty of the administation is to maintain these structures in service. The paper presents an overview on the evaluation methodology of the remaining service life on the bases of the new principles. The procedure to establish safe inspection intervals is also pointed out.
