PRINCIPLES OF ECOLOGICAL CONSTRUCTION IN FACHWERK ARCHITECTURE
The authors consider the ecological aspects of application of Fachwerk, a traditional structural system, in the present-day construction. The authors have identified the potential and defined the principal development and modernization trends of the Fachwerk architecture. The author provides arguments of outstanding contemporary architects in support of the statement that the Fachwerk architecture is friendly to humans and it does not deliver any damage to the environment. Fachwerk complies with the criteria of sustainable development; therefore, it may be retained in the future architecture.
