The Aceh Teachers Association Office Building in the Aceh Civil Service Agency Office wants to be changed into the Archive Building, so that the required live load becomes greater than the design live load. In addition, the age of the building is 30 years, which caused the degradation of the material strength in its structures. Changing the standard of earthquake resistant design of building structures from SNI 03-1726-1989 (standard at the time of design) to SNI 1726:2012 caused the earthquake load acting on the building structures to become greater. Therefore, the structures of the building need to be strengthened so that it can serve the load acting at the moment. For this purpose, the measurements of structural elements (i.e. first story columns, second story columns, floor beams, slab, and ring beams) dimensions as well as compressive strength tests have been conducted. The number of reinforcing bars as well as their arrangements and diameters in the structural elements were measured using a profometer. Based on the results of these measurements and tests, an analysis is carried out to obtain the design strengths of first story columns, second story columns, floor beams, slab, and ring beams. Based on the dead load, live load and earthquake load working at the moment, a structural analysis is also carried out to obtain the required strength of the structural elements. The analysis results show that the building structure elements are not able to serve the current working load, therefore the structure is strengthened. Structural strengthening is designed by using an externally wrapping system of a layer 1.2 mm thick Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) sheet material. After structural strengthening, the structural elements are strong enough to serve the working load.
