Seismic vulnerability of populated centers: case study
The objective of this research work was to determine the level of seismic vulnerability of the homes in the Cristo Rey neighborhood of the municipality of Ocaña, Norte de Santander, applying the methodology of the Federal Agency for Emergency Management (FEMA), FEMA P-154. The neighborhood that constitutes the case study is not far from the reality of any other neighborhood in Colombia, where the settlements have occurred without taking into account any urban projection, much less more complete studies such as seismic microzoning. The types of constructions found were houses built with simple masonry systems and some with confined masonry, with irregularities in plan, vertical and plan-vertical, in addition to geological risk of displacement and a high percentage of houses built before 1984. The result found It was homes in the three levels of seismic vulnerability, the highest percentage being the high level of seismic vulnerability.
