City and Square, compositional principles in the design of urban space in Serbia during the 19th and early 20th century in the case of the partisans Square in Užice (1961)
Partisans Square in Užice has been incorporated into the existing urban structure in a skilful and thoughtful manner. The market is in conformity with the topography of the terrain around the city and countryside benefits topography as an element of design. Historical layers in involved through several levels of urban design. Lack of historical development was compensated by transferring solutions from Central European cities such as altitude dominant, sat in the square, spacious niche market, etc. in the room. This work analyzes the elements that Partisans Square building relationships with immediate and further urban structure and historical layers of the city and the topography of the terrain around the town.
