Residential-business block and the cinema on the Partizan's sqare in Užice (1961)
The business-residential building on the Partisan's Square, the eastern block A, is an object designed by the architect Milorad Pantović. In the building is a cinema, business space and apartments. Due to its function, the building has a basis that is divided into three parts: a large and small corpus and a cinema hall. The groundfloor and mezzanine are grouped into one whole and contain business space. The rest of the floors, from the first to the fifth, is devoted for apartments. The large corpus has an inverted zone of ground and mezzanine, while colonnades are located on the main facade line. The small corpus has a fully enclosed part of the building. The upper part of the building is composed by repeating the one typical floor. The upper volume of the building is composed of flat wall surfaces perforated with large windows. The central part is a shallow terrace. The corpus composition ends with wall 1.7 meters height. The structure of the building is a reinforced concrete skeleton, the brick is filled in an cement mortar, the surface treatment of the walls is flat mortar, the windows and door are made in wood. The ground floor of the building is covered with stone tiles. This building represents an important stage in the development of architecture in Serbia and irreplacable part of the Partisan's Square in Užice.
