Mobilité quotidienne et design urbain : la transposition du modèle Quartiers verts à Montréal
In 1997, Cervero and Cockelman identified three environmental factors determining active transportation : density, diversity and design (the 3 Ds). The third « D » (design) refers to a large range of characteristics, like the continuity of the street network, the availability of pedestrian and cycling infrastructures, the street enclosure, etc. Nevertheless, the influence of design seems to depend on the purpose of the trip (compulsory, optional, etc.). Indeed, travel distance remains the main factor for walking to daily destinations, a factor that cannot be changed without radical urban transformations that go beyond the design dimension. The limits of transposing design proposals from one urban context to another are explored throughout the case of the “Green neighborhood” project.active transportation, design, transposition, neighborhood, environmental factors, mobility
