60 years of education of women engineers in Vojvodina
This paper aims to analyze the participation of the female population in mechanical engineering, to study the motives for their commitment to these studies, their status with respect to the majority male population, and the fulfillment of expectations by the profession. The number of candidates who defended their doctoral dissertations at the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad from the date of its establishment to the present (60 years in total) was examined. Special attention was paid to the problem of female professors working in education of the mechanical engineers. The numerical indicator of the participation of the female population of mechanical engineers in relation to the male mechanical engineers at the Faculty of Technical Sciences is devastating, and it is concluded that appropriate action must be taken. Measures that are thought to contribute to the increase in the number of women mechanical engineers in Vojvodina and throughout Serbia are proposed.
