Eine Plattform für die Wissenschaft: Bauingenieurwesen, Architektur und Urbanistik
Origens de uma política urbano-ambiental
This article discusses the increasing responsibilities to be fulfilled by the city management in finding solutions to social and environmental problems. On one side, cities are the locus of international loans programmes that oblige national governments to adopt structural adjustments; on the other, cities are obliged to rescue their population from social crises. At the same time, these cities, lacking national reference in terms of a country urban policy, adopt international models, some progressist, some very traditional. Sources for these policies are now diverse. In order to illustrate some ideas, the article presents examples of statements made by scientists and city managers representing institutions that formulate and foster policies at international level.
