Otra lectura a la historia de la educación ambiental en América Latina y el Caribe
Attempts to write a history of environmental education which goes beyond the obligatory references to international forums held on the subject since Stockholm, 1972, are few and far between. I felt it wasnecessary, nevertheless, to prepare an historical account more in keeping with the events which have defined the direction environmental education is taking at the moment in the Latin-American and Caribbean region. These are events which do not normally appear in analyses of this area as they have more to do with the fields of economics, politics or culture; nonetheless, they are within the recognizedboundaries and it is therefore often at odds with official education systems and the recommendations of international organisms. I have attempted a different reading and the construction of a framework which provides us with new elements and will lead to a better understanding and clearer vision of our own undertakings.
