Lateral distribution of concentrated load on timber floor panels
Article is confined to application of new 1967 edition of British Standard Code of Practice CP3 Chapter V Part 1 which deals with dead and imposed loads for buildings, to design of timber floors for apartment houses; results of concentrated load tests on floor panels show appreciable lateral distribution of load over all joists in panel, and that load on any one joist is unlikely to be greater than 50% of applied load; conclusions are based on use of loosely jointed, tongued and grooved floorboards.
