Series of tests by Underwriters' Laboratories, Inc to obtain information about flames from burning buildings that would be useful in estimating fire severity outside openings in burning buildings; tests were conducted in specially constructed chamber 10×12×10 ft high; fire load provided in all tests by burning wood cribs constructed of 1 1/2 in. square fir lumber; single and double window openings were tested; information presented can be used to determine flame temperature and flame projection during building fires if fire load and burning rate can be estimated.
