Water infiltration in hawaiian sugarcane furrows
Infiltration equation that describes separately effects of flow retardance from sugar cane growing in furrow, inflow rate, and furrow slope, shape, and spacing as related to time, is basic requirement in developing criteria for design and regulation of water application; regression analysis of infiltration equations developed from 200-furrow inflow-outflow measurements resulted in quadratic polynomial equation relating slope, inflow rate, sugar cane age, and time to infiltration; polynomial regression equation was reduced to parabolic form to simplify comparison and use of infiltration equation is limited to sugar cane furrows occurring in soils of Molokai series, or similar soils.
