Kainji development
Kainji station of 960 Mw will be first of three hydroelectric developments aggregating 1940 Mw planned to serve electrical network of Nigeria; initial installation at Kainji is 320 Mw and is planned to furnish first power in 1968; features of site investigation, general layout, diversion procedures, treatment of foundation faults, embankment and concrete dams, navigation works of two locks, concreting operations, dam instrumentation, electrical and mechanical details; dam sections and illustrations of construction are given.
