Rheological research on rocks in shear
By analyzing rheological behavior of rock author arrives at conclusion that it is governed by mechanism of stress and deformation transmission in rock; these mechanisms are in turn dependent on manner in which stress is applied to rock and, on basis of analysis, it has been shown that use of tests employing various combinations of compressive force are unrepresentative of conditions pertaining in rock construction; consequently, author proposes new rheological model for rock testing, and outlines details of testing apparatus together with some of results obtained with it.
