Comparison of four different methods of determining shear strength of rock
Article describes results of comparison study of reliability of four methods of determining cohesion, or simple tangential strength, of rock; study was made with conventional methods and several new methods; cohesion intercept on Mohr diagram obtained from tests performed with Voropinov's triaxial apparatus was used as standard value in comparison, and rock tested was relatively homogeneous Godula sandstone collected from area near Recica; consideration was given to both reliability of measured strength values and cost of individual methods.
