Sound radiation into rectangular room -- Applications to airborne sound transmission in buildings
Relation between wall vibration and sound pressure in room is derived from natural mode analysis; solution is discussed for frequency range above coincidence frequency; it is found that, for given standing wave on wall, sound pressure in room is built up by very few modes; this is of interest for accuracy of sound insulation measurements in buildings; average sound pressure is shown to be same as is found from energy considerations; however, systematic deviations can occur if wall is excited to vibrations from source room with same dimensions as receiving room; this was experimentally verified.
