Deep mine stress determinations using flatjack and borehole deformation methods
Estimate of vertical component of stress about 2 ft into rib at station along haulage drift on 6100-level of Idaho mine by flatjack method is 5875 psi, whereas borehole deformation procedure at this station yielded value of 5500 psi for same depth into rib; test zone is 5625 ft below surface; no attempt was made to extrapolate stress estimates beyond depth of flatjack installation.
