In 1947, 2619 tests drilled for oil or gas were recorded; of recorded completions, 1296 were oil wells, 417 were gas wells and 907 were dry holes; 216 of dry holes were wildcats; secondary oil recovery is increasing rapidly in importance in Kansas; table shows 144 such operations including more than 2000 producing wells at end of 1947.
