Hydraulic testing press with pre-stressed concrete frame
Illustrated description of 10,000-ton press in use for 12 yr at Building and Public Works Laboratory in Paris; total weight 700 tons; for compressive tests, specimen is placed between one or more jacks suspended from roof of chamber, and cast steel pedestal which rests on sunken floor; for deflection tests, specimen is placed on two I-beams spanning chamber and supported on edges along each side.
