Calorimeter building for domestic-heating research
Building constructed at Fuel Research Station to enable all heat generated in appliance to be accounted for, show that improvements to appliances can be affected, and measure effect of improvements in new designs; there are four testing units, one in each corner of building from ground floor to roof; remainder of space used for control room, refrigerator room, laboratory, photometer room, etc. (see also Gas J v 255 n 4440 July 7 1948 p 37-8)
