Dam constitutes major feature of Umgeni water scheme, in Natal, S Africa; concrete gravity dam, 1250 ft long, 180 ft high, will contain about 250,000 cu yd of concrete which is placed by aerial cableway; about 2/3 of total quantity of concrete has been placed to date; it is anticipated that dam will be completed in 1949.
