Construction nears second-phase stage at $220,000,000 McNary Dam
McNary Dam across Columbia River at Umatilla, Ore, now under construction, consists of 7600 ft length of concrete and 700 ft of earthfill; two fish ladders are provided; potential power output amounts to some 1,380,000 kw; dam will also provide upstream pool of 60 mi of slackwater navigation for barge traffic through 9 ft channel to Pasco and into Snake River; notes on construction including change of 100 mi of track and 50 mi of road.
