Reinforced-Concrete construction at acton lane "B" power station
By use of precast reinforced concrete for turbine house and switch house, and for separate workship building, it has been possible to reduce weight of steel employed from 1000 to 330 tons and to make considerable saving in shuttering and framework, compared with cast in situ methods; precast units employed are large and heavily loaded; structure is analogues in some respects to steel framed structure. (See also - illustrations p 80; Engineer v 193 n 5010 Feb 1 1952 p 173-6)
