Bridge at Emerson, Manitoba, typifies modern practice in design of highway crossings; it is 738 ft long comprising main span of 161 ft 6 in. built of plate girders, with two flanking spans 106 ft long and seven approach spans; foundation conditions; pier composed of three 6-ft diam reinforced concrete columns; main river span cantilevered 56 ft at each end; roadway 30 ft wide with 6 ft sidewalk.
