Problem is whether dose rate attenuation coefficient for concrete shield can be determined from measurements on individual components of concrete; attenuation coefficients of ordinary concrete and limonite concrete were calculated from mass dose attenuation coefficient of concrete components; agreement is good with values measured directly on concrete slabs; tables show attenuation factors for range of thickness; use of tables is illustrated with example.
