General description of towers erected by Virginia Electric and Power Co., for carrying lines of Elizabeth River at Norfolk where 145 ft. clearance is required, where river is 850 ft. wide; length of span adopted was 1160 ft.; number and spacing of piles and amount of concrete for each footing is made so that under ultimate footing loads, pile loading will be limited to 20 tons compression or 4 tons uplift per pile; profile of crossing and methods of determining dimensions of towers are given.
