Theory of plastic design of hyperstatic structures is presented; theory is based on concept of coefficient of plastic overstress expressed by ratio of limit value of useful load and value of this load corresponding to appearance of first plastic hinge in structure; two calculation methods for plastic moments are developed, and optimum solutions are obtained; close connection between this concept and more general concept of stress redistribution factor is also pointed out.
