New trends in fallout protection
Initial phase of National Fallout Shelter Program carried out by engineers and architects who had attended course developed by Office of Civil Defense is discussed; it gives emphasis to incorporation of preplanned dual-purpose shelter areas in original design of new structures; incorporating "slanting" techniques for providing fallout protection; these techniques affect location and quantity of window areas, site conditions, basements, entrances and exits, interior partitions, walls, floors and roofs, and architectural arrangements; methods are explained.
