Building Research Station at Herts, England, evaluates factors in British weather which are effective in producing degradation of glass fiber reinforced polyesters and PVC; simple meter is used to measure energy of UV radiation; studies based on short- and long-term weathering trials estimate 30-yr life for polyester roof lighting sheets and over 30-yr life for PVC rainwater goods; results of trials show that colored plastics do not have permanent stability of color when exposed to climatic conditions.
