After it was discovered that Earles Road Bridge, three-span reinforced concrete structure which stretches across four tracks of Pennsylvania Railroad, had failed, several studies were made to determine feasibility and financial practicality of replacing bridge, utilizing existing abutments with minor alterations and eliminating piers; replacing bridge in toto as single span bridge with realigned approaches, or repairing bridge; tests resulted in decision to repair bridge; repair procedure is described.
