Application of transfer matrices (reduction method) to beams on continuous elastic foundation
Approximate method in which continuous elastic foundation is replaced by finite number of single elastic elements is derived from S.Falk's treatment of continuous beams; matrices and boundary conditions as well as conditions for transition points are established; numerical solution for bedplate with variable rigidity and coefficient of subgrade reaction is presented; total computer time for 33 points calculated amounted to 55 sec only, including read-in and read-out.
