Experimental study of longshore currents on plane beach
Experimental phase includes measurements, under controlled laboratory conditions, of phenomena associated with longshore currents flowing on smooth plane beach; analytical phase includes development of empirical relation between longshore current velocity and wave conditions at breaking, order-of-magnitude analysis of energy in surf zone, and examination of equations of motion for longshore currents; empirical relation agrees with some sets of field and laboratory data.
