R.A.F. Tengah airfield reconstruction with particular reference to earthworks
Reconstruction of airfield at Royal Air Force Station Tengah on Singapore Island is described; runway, 9000 ft long, 150 ft wide, was designed as flexible pavement except at its southern and northern ends, where rigid construction is integrated with readiness platform and adjoining taxilane; problems associated with excavation and com-pacted filling operations under tropical conditions, are discussed in particular.
