Currently used airfield pavement evaluation procedures are summarized and reviewed; cited are need for more uniformity in methods of presenting load rating in manner readily usable by operating personnel, need for introducing procedures of more basic evaluation nature as opposed to procedures which reverse design equations, need for developing nondestructive methods of locating weak areas for detailed testing, and need for developing methods of evaluating effects of traffic frequency on pavement performance.
