General review of cementation and silicatization processes; silicatization is used where it is normally impossible to introduce sufficient cement to seal off all fissures, and consists in pre-injection of certain chemical solutions, such as sodium silicate and aluminum sulphate; discussion of shaft sinking in Scotland, using this process; further applications of cementation, such as shaft drying, drifting in water-bearing ground, underground dams, sealing off underground fires, and construction of shaft plugs. (see also Science and Art of Min., vol. 40, no. 15, Feb. 8, 1930, pp. 230-231 and Can Min. Jl., vol. 51, no. 16, Apr. 18, 1930, pp. 372-374, 1 fig)
