Description of construction features and power generating equipment of 156 Mw capacity development, second of 3 Portuguese stations on international stretch of River Douro in Iberian Peninsula; dam is diamond-headed buttress type, 80 m high and 263 m long; 3 generating sets of vertical Francis type have nominal output of 60 Mva each; details are given of dam construction, diversion tunnel and auxiliary discharge, hydraulic circuit, machine hall, construction equipment, turbines, alternators, access shaft and surface buildings, transformers and switchgear, auxiliary circuits, and control room.
