Sample size estimates in permeability studies
Analysis of field determined permeability data was made that shows how sampling accuracy changes with permeability and number of samples; exponential relation was observed between mean and variance of permeability data; analysis of variance performed on logarithms of permeability data effectively eliminated this relation; confidence limits calculated from resulting logarithmic data were properly asymmetrical; sampling accuracy for successive number of samples can be determined for different permeabilities when variance is known.
