Construction of drift-sand dyke on island Rottumerplaat
Construction of dike using drift-sand on sandy shoal off Netherlands' Northcoast, and experiences gained are described; object of dike under consideration is to obtain flood-free strip of land in area, where this may be useful for future hydraulic engineering works; method of catching sand by windscreens, materials used for construction of these screens, and method of fixing sand by vegetation; reference is made to conditions and experiences in other places in Netherlands where dunes or dikes are built using drift-sand.
