Liassic succession in clay pit at Kirton in Lindsey, north Lincolnshire
New clay pit at Kirton gives continuous exposures of 21 ft of clays and limestone nodules of davoei Zone at top of Lower Lias, 18 ft of similar beds and 8 ft of Marlstone Rock Bed belonging to Middle Lias, and 38 ft of shales and limestones of tenuicostatum and falciferum Zones of Upper Lias; Liparoceratid, Amaltheid, Dactylioceratid and Hildoceratid ammonites allow zones to be delimited.
