Response of cylindrical shell to elastic wave
Infinitely long cylindrical shell is subjected to plane stress wave whose front is parallel to axis of shell; approximate solution for response of dilatational mode of shell is established by extending technique previously applied in solution of cylindrical shell-acoustic medium interaction problem; results from approximate solution are in close agreement with previously exact solutions that required extensive computer calculations.
