Needed: better roof support at mine intersections
Study of junction-support problem revealed that exposed roof at intersections rarely exceeds 15% of total exposed, but 30% of fatalities occur at these points; possible solutions include use of longer bolts than normally used at approaches to intersection; use of modified yielding arches; use of sag bolts for predicting roof collapse.
