Reconstruction of Victoria Tower, Westminster
Victoria Tower of Houses of Parliament is 360 ft high; 4 former floors, carried partly by cast iron columns, have been replaced by 7 new floors; new floors are constructed from mild steel girders and hollow tile floors built directly into walls; transfer of 276 ton roof load to new steelwork was accomplished by delicate jacking operation.
