Model study of behaviour of beaches and groynes
Model experiments described, in which 3 types of impermeable groin were subjected to cycle of accretion, depletion, and recovery, under action of waves of different characteristics; effect of alignment and type of groin on rate of littoral drift, littoral currents, scour, and shoreline orientation; each arrangement of groins is seen to possess characteristic advantages and disadvantages which can influence choice of groin and its alignment in given circumstances.
